Beef Manicotti

1 lb. ground beef
1 small onion, chopped
(about cup)
3 slices bread, torn into small pieces
1 cups shredded mozzarella
cheese (6 oz.)
1 egg
cup milk
2 tbsp. chopped parsley
tsp. pepper
1 pkg. (8 oz.)manicotti shells
1 can (15 oz.) tomato sauce
1 can (12 oz..) tomato paste
1 can (4 oz.) mushrooms
stems & pieces, undrained
1 clove of garlic, finely chopped
4 cups water
1 tbsp. Italian seasoning
tsp. sugar
tsp. salt
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Cook ground beef and cup onion in
10" skillet, stirring frequently, until
beef is brown; drain. Stir in bread, mozzarella
cheese, egg, milk, parsley &
tsp. pepper. Fill uncooked manicotti
shells, packing beef mixture into
both ends

Place shells in ungreased rectangular
pan, 13x9x2". heat remaining ingredients
except Parmesan cheese to boiling in
Dutch oven, stirring occasionally; reduce
heat. Simmer uncovered 5 min. Pour sauce over
shells. Cover & bake in 375 oven for 1 to
1 min. or untill shells are tender.
Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
