Chocolate Pecan Brownies

(Makes about 16 brownies)

¾ cup all purpose flour
¼ tsp baking soda
¾ cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup butter or margarine
2 tbsp water
1 package (12 oz) semisweet chocolate morsels
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 large eggs
½ cup chopped pecans

Preheat oven to 325°F. Grease a 9" square baking pan.
In a small bowl, mix together flour & baking soda.
In a small saucepan, combine sugar, butter & water.
Bring to a boil over medium heat; remove immediately
from heat. Stir in 1 cup of chocolate morsels
& vanilla extract until chocolate is melted &
mixture is smooth. Trasfer mixture to a medium bowl.
Cool completely. Stir in eggs, 1 at a time, beating
well after each addition. Gradually stir in flour
mixture until smooth. Stir remaining chocolate morsels
& nuts into batter. Pour batter in prepared baking pan.
Bake until a toothpick inserted in center comes out
clean, 30 to 35 min.
